General information for first-time visitors
The botanical excursion is intended mainly for students of the Institute of Botany and Zoology of Masaryk University, but also for others interested in botany or the nature of Europe. The excursion takes place every year in various European countries. It lasts approximately one week. You travel by rented bus, sleep in your own tents or mobile homes in agreed campsites. Expert commentary is provided by the excursion leaders.
Food
You provide your own food, shopping during the trip is possible. A paper box that participants put under their seats has proven to be a good choice for transportation. Cooking at the campsites is again up to you, a small gas stove is particularly suitable.
It will usually also be possible to use the restaurants at the campsite locations.
Don't forget to bring:
- A valid passport or ID card
- Health insurance – everyone arranges it themselves
- Student ID card (ISIC)
- Tent, sleeping mat, sleeping bag
- Money for personal use (RON, EUR)
- Raincoat or umbrella (you can go in all weathers)
- Clothes and shoes for all types of terrain according to the excursion program
- Medications that you regularly take
A request to keep the bus clean :)
We would very much hate to lose a reliable carrier. We are a specific group and it is not easy to find a transport company that would be willing to accept this "specificity" (field conditions during the excursion, driving on mountain roads, herbarium items, etc.).
During longer journeys, everyone on the bus will naturally accumulate garbage. It is possible to continuously throw it into the trash directly on the bus, which the drivers take care of. You can also use plastic bags from your own resources. Please throw away the bag filled in this way yourself during stops at gas stations and in the evening at the campsite.
If we return to the bus muddy and wet, it is a good idea to shake off the water before getting on the bus. Of course, it is not necessary to be completely dry, but it is better to put wet raincoats and umbrellas in a plastic bag, they will dry in the evening at the campsite. In case of extreme mud, it is advisable to take off your shoes before getting on the bus. In other cases, try to clean your shoes outside as much as possible.
Biological material can only be taken on the bus after consulting with the teachers, in the amount approved by them, and the material must always be well packaged.
The collection of plant and animal material is prohibited in the territory of national parks in Romania.
It is not possible to take live specimens of any animals on the bus!
If you have any problems during the excursion (transport, campsites, replenishing food supplies, need to see a doctor, etc.), do not hesitate to contact the excursion leader.
Thank you all in advance!
